The whole Australasian jazz community will be saddened to learn that pianist/composer Jann Rutherford finally lost her brave battle with cancer in New Zealand (yesterday morning, I believe).
The highly experienced alto saxophonist Barry Duggan is a peer of Bernie McGann, who spent much of the 1970s and early 80s based overseas. With the release of his debut CD album L¹Estranger in 1997, followed by Frank DiSario¹s ³Trust², he finally received broader critical recognition, with rave reviews nationwide.
